The Slow Writing Circle
An unhurried rhythm for your writing life
I know you’re longing to write. I also know you’re a human navigating a lot. Time feels like a vapor, compressed, or something you’ll have after you finish a work project, or your kids graduate from high school, or you stop having to prioritize your health like it’s a part-time job.
I know you string sentences together in your head while building blocks with a toddler, or you pour energy into a day job that depletes you by dinner time, or you add a few lines to your phone before falling asleep at night.
It may not seem like you’re writing, but the truth is, you are. Creativity isn’t something that sits on the chair under your clean laundry pile. It’s today, this moment, this week, with all its complicated demands and overwhelming beauty. We often try to separate our writing life from our actual life, but they’re actually one and the same.
There will never be a perfect schedule, an ideal morning routine, or a daily energy level that’s predictable every single day. That’s not how nature works, and it’s not how our bodies work, either.
The most important thing you can do to sustain your writing life for the long haul is to develop a responsive relationship with your creativity.
That’s self-trust.
Learning your own rhythms, trusting your timing (even when it takes longer than you want to), recognizing patterns in your own life, checking in to see what’s truly supportive, and being willing to try something new.
After two decades of trial and error, I’ve slowly developed a framework for staying anchored to my creativity and building momentum at my own pace.
A New Rhythm
No matter where you are on the writer’s path, TETHER will meet you there, offering room to explore what’s possible every month, every season, and every year.
SURFACING: Gently tend to the month ahead and see what wants your attention
THRESHOLDS: Notice what’s changing, recognize themes, and reflect before dreaming into the next season
CLEARING: Revisit the full year, notice patterns, and consider where you’re going next
Inside the Circle
The Slow Writing Circle is where we practice these rhythms together. Engaging in curiosity. Building trust around our unique creative rhythms.
One session can offer the next right step, but over time you’ll begin to notice deeper patterns, understand how your projects tend to unfold, and what conditions make your writing life feel the most alive. Here’s what’s inside.
The Full Tether Ecosystem: Three PDF guides to anchor your year
